Offset is the specification that most changes how a truck looks and how it drives. A lower or negative offset pushes the wheel outward for a wider stance, which fills the arches — and also increases scrub radius, loads the wheel bearings more heavily, and usually pushes tread past the fender, where a flare becomes necessary to stay road legal.

Check bolt pattern, centre bore and load rating before finish. Load rating in particular is not optional on a three-quarter-ton or one-ton truck: a wheel rated for a half-ton will physically bolt on and is not built for the weight.
