A mount is not an accessory to the lamp; it is what decides whether the lamp survives. Vibration is what kills LED lighting, and it kills it at the solder joints and the lens seal rather than at the diodes. A rigid, correctly clamped mount on a bracket designed for the vehicle outlasts a universal bracket that resonates.
Position is the other half. Roof mounting reaches furthest but reflects off your own hood in snow and dust; bumper and ditch positions keep the light below your line of sight, which is why most vehicles end up running both. Check the mount clears the hood at full opening before drilling anything.
