Mounting decides whether a gauge gets used. An A-pillar pod puts one or two readings in your natural line of sight without cutting the dash, and it is reversible on a leased or resale-sensitive vehicle. A dash panel or cluster suits three or more gauges and puts them where you can compare them at a glance. Single cups suit an under-dash or console position where the gauge is a reference rather than something you watch continuously.

Check three things before ordering: the gauge diameter your instruments actually are, whether the pod is vehicle-specific or universal, and whether your pillar contains a side-curtain airbag — many do, and a pod must be designed to sit clear of its deployment path.
