Nitrous adds oxygen to the intake charge, which lets the engine burn more fuel and make more power on demand. The oxygen is the easy half; the fuel and the timing are what keep the engine intact. A wet system delivers both together, a dry system relies on the injectors to keep up, and either way the tune has to know the shot is coming.

Supporting hardware is not optional. Bottle pressure decides how much nitrous actually flows, so a pressure gauge or sensor is a tuning instrument rather than a decoration. Fittings and washers are consumables — nitrous is a solvent and an oxidiser, and a seal that was fine on fuel may not be here.
