Interior lighting is bought for two different jobs. Replacement dome and map bulbs simply make an older cabin usable at night — a factory incandescent dome light in a fifteen-year-old truck is dim enough to be useless for finding anything. Footwell, cargo and under-seat lighting adds illumination where the factory never put any.
Colour temperature is worth thinking about here in a way it is not outdoors. A cold white reads as bright but destroys night vision and takes time to recover from; a warmer white or an amber accent lets you see inside the cabin without losing the road outside when you look up.

What are courtesy lights?
Low-level interior lights that come on when a door opens — footwell, door pocket and step lighting. They are about finding things and stepping out safely rather than reading.
Can you replace interior bulbs with LED?
On most vehicles yes, and the gain is colour and current draw rather than brightness alone. Some vehicles monitor bulb current and need a load resistor or a canbus-ready bulb to avoid a fault light.
What colour temperature suits an interior?
Around 4000K to 5000K reads as clean white without the blue cast of higher numbers. Warmer than that looks yellow next to a modern dashboard.
Do accent lights drain the battery?
LED accent lighting draws very little, but anything wired to constant power will discharge a battery over weeks of standing. Wiring to an ignition-switched source avoids that.
