ROUGH COUNTRY 0.5-2.5" N3 FRONT SHOCKS ; 07-18 WRANGLER JK

Jeep Wrangler Shocks: JK, JL and TJ by Position and Lift Height

This guide is for Jeep Wrangler owners in Canada replacing shocks on a stock Jeep or matching shocks to a lift. The choice comes down to three things: which Wrangler generation you have, front or rear position, and the lift range the shock is built for.

A shock absorber controls how quickly the spring compresses and rebounds. Shocks are matched to a ride height range, so confirm the lift height on your Jeep before ordering. A shock sized for a stock Jeep and one sized for 3-4.5 inches of lift are different parts even on the same Wrangler.

What to check first on your Wrangler

How the Rough Country N3 shocks work

Rough Country sizes each N3 shock to a lift range. In its own words, the JK fronts replace the factory front shocks to control suspension travel at the raised ride height, and the JL fronts replace the factory units to damp suspension travel at the raised height. That is why the range in the title is the first thing to match.

Wrangler JK (titled 07-18)

Stock to small lifts

For a JK with little or no lift, the Rough Country 0.5-2.5" N3 Front Shocks for the 07-18 Wrangler JK take the place of the stock front shocks, sized for 0.5-2.5 inches of lift. At the back, the Rough Country 0-3" N3 Rear Shocks for the 07-18 Wrangler JK are for 0-3 inches of lift and replace the factory units.

Mid-size lifts

For a JK lifted 3-4.5 inches, the Rough Country 3-4.5" N3 Front Shocks for the 07-18 Wrangler JK are made for that range. Rough Country lists matching rears for other ranges on Rough Country Shocks & Struts; pick the rear whose title covers your actual lift.

Wrangler JL (titled 18-25, 4WD)

Two JL front shocks split by lift. The Rough Country N3 0-1.5" Front Shocks for the 18-25 Wrangler JL 4WD suit a stock or lightly lifted JL, and the Rough Country 2-3.5" N3 Front Shocks for the 18-25 Wrangler JL 4WD suit 2-3.5 inches of lift. Both are titled 18-25 even though our JL page runs to 2026, so 2026 owners should confirm on the product page.

Wrangler TJ (titled 1997-2006)

The Zone Offroad Zone Nitro Smooth Body Shock (ZON7975) is titled for the 1997-2006 Jeep Wrangler. Zone says it is pressurized with 50 psi nitrogen gas for quick response and reduced aeration, with vehicle-specific valving and a Fluon-banded piston, and that it offers stock-like control. Zone sells these shocks individually with bushings and sleeves included, so count how many you need. The title does not say front or rear; check the product page for its position. Before you order

Know your generation, position and current lift, then use the vehicle page above or browse all Shocks, Struts & Suspension. Salt and slush are part of a Canadian winter for most Jeeps, so spring tire changeover is a good time to look over shocks and mounts. Prices are in Canadian dollars and orders ship across Canada.

FAQ

Do JK shocks fit a JL?

Not unless the title names it. The JK shocks here are titled 07-18 Wrangler JK and the JL shocks 18-25 Wrangler JL 4WD. A 2018 can be either, so check which you own.

Which shocks suit a JK with about 2 inches of lift?

By their titles, the Rough Country 0.5-2.5" front and 0-3" rear N3 shocks both cover that range on the 07-18 Wrangler JK.

Are the Zone Offroad shocks sold in pairs?

No. Zone says these shocks are sold individually and include bushings and sleeves.

What about a YJ Wrangler?

This guide names no YJ shock. The 1987-1995 Jeep Wrangler YJ shock page lists what fits, and the vehicle selector filters to your year.
