Chevrolet Silverado Tonneau Cover Guide
Share
This guide is for Chevrolet Silverado owners choosing a tonneau cover. On a Silverado the truck narrows the list before style does: the model (1500, 2500 or 3500), year and bed length decide which covers fit. Then pick how it opens: roll up, fold or retract.
Step 1: pin down your Silverado
- 1500, 2500 or 3500. Each cover in this guide is titled either for the Silverado 1500 or for the Silverado 2500/3500, never both. The 2500 and 3500 covers here are titled 2020 and later.
- Model year. The 1500 covers below are titled 2019 and later, or 2014-2018. For a 2019, read the product page fitment table closely: our records list 2019 separately from 2020 and later.
- Bed length. A cover is cut for one bed. Titles here name 5'8", 6'6", 6'7" and 6'9" beds, and makers measure differently: one description calls a bed 6 ft 10 in that its fitment record lists as 6'9". Choose with the vehicle selector, not the number.
- CarbonPro bed. Two titles here exclude the CarbonPro bed. If your Silverado has it, check the fitment notes on every product page.
Step 2: choose how it opens
A tonneau cover closes over the open cargo box to hide and shelter what you carry. The styles here:
- Soft roll-up covers use a tensioned vinyl sheet on a rail system and roll forward to open the bed.
- Hard folding covers use rigid panels that fold forward in sections and can usually be driven with the panels stacked.
- Retractable covers roll into a canister at the bulkhead, so the bed can be left fully open without removing the cover.
With months of slush and road salt, look at how water leaves the bed; seals and drain tubes are noted below where the maker mentions them. For more on styles, see how to choose a tonneau cover.
2019-2026 Silverado 1500
- TruXedo Lo Pro Soft Roll-Up Tonneau Cover, 5'8" bed: titled for the 2019-2026 Chevy Silverado 1500 / GMC Sierra 1500. It sits inside the bed rails with full access to the stake pocket holes, and TruXedo says its heavy-duty construction and patented automatic tension control are meant for any weather condition.
- BAK Industries BAKFlip FiberMax, 6ft6: a hard folding cover titled for the 2019+ Silverado/Sierra 1500 Extended/Crew Cab, with or without the track system, excluding the Carbon Pro bed. Its hard panels fold open for access to the bed and close to cover it.
- Tonno Pro Tonno Fold Soft Folding Tonneau Cover, 6'7" box: titled for the 2019-2026 Silverado/Sierra 1500. Tonno Pro calls it a soft folding cover; the product page lists the details.
2014-2018 Silverado 1500
- Retrax RetraxONE MX Retractable Tonneau Cover: titled for the 2014-2018 Chevy Silverado 1500. Retracting the cover opens the bed and extending it closes it again. The title gives no bed length; check the product page.
Covers for earlier trucks are on the 2007-2013 Silverado 1500 page and the 1999-2006 Silverado 1500 page.
2020 and later Silverado 2500 and 3500
- TruXedo Lo Pro Soft Roll-Up Tonneau Cover, 6'9" bed: titled for the 2020-2026 Chevy Silverado 2500 / Silverado 3500 / GMC Sierra 2500 and more, without the CarbonPro bed. Like the 1500 version, it sits inside the bed rails and leaves the stake pocket holes open.
- UnderCover Flex Hard Folding Tonneau Cover: titled for the 2020-2026 Chevy Silverado 2500. FRP composite panels fold on built-in prop rods that hold the cover open for driving, and rubber seals and drain tubes channel water out of the bed. More from the brand: UnderCover tonneau covers.
- Extang Solid Fold ALX Hard Folding Tonneau Cover: titled for the 2020+ Chevy Silverado 3500. Extang says it is built to cover the bed from front to back. Check the bed length on the product page.

FAQ
Will a Silverado 1500 tonneau cover fit my 2500 or 3500?
Not one of the covers in this guide is titled for both. Choose a cover whose title names your model: for a 2020-2026 Silverado 2500 or 3500, that means the TruXedo Lo Pro 573301 (6'9" bed), the UnderCover cover titled for the 2500 or the Extang cover titled for the 3500. Check the bed on each product page.
My Silverado has the CarbonPro bed. Which covers are ruled out?
The BAK FiberMax title excludes the Carbon Pro bed and the TruXedo Lo Pro 573301 title says without CarbonPro Bed. For any other cover, read the fitment notes on its product page before ordering.
Which bed length does my Silverado have?
Use the vehicle selector rather than a tape measure. Titles here name a 5'8", 6'6", 6'7" and 6'9" bed, and makers do not all measure a bed the same way.
Do these covers also fit the GMC Sierra?
Only where the title says so. The TruXedo Lo Pro 5'8", the BAK FiberMax and the Tonno Fold titles name the Sierra 1500, and the TruXedo Lo Pro 573301 title names the Sierra 2500. The other covers here are titled for the Silverado only.
