The Rugged Ridge engine and transmission skid plate for the 2012-2016 Jeep Wrangler JK with the 3.6L engine is made of 3/16 in. powder coated steel. It protects the engine oil pan and transmission, and 2.5 in. or more of lift is required to prevent drive shaft rubbing.

A skid plate is a plate bolted beneath the vehicle that shields a vulnerable underbody part, such as the engine, transmission, transfer case, fuel tank or differential, from rocks and obstacles.
