A sender is not a generic part. Each one is calibrated to a resistance curve that its matching gauge expects, so a sender from a different range or manufacturer will move the needle and be wrong in a way that looks convincing. Buy the sender specified for the gauge you own.

Fitting matters as much as calibration. Temperature probes must sit in flowing coolant or oil rather than in a still pocket; pressure senders should be mounted where vibration will not fatigue the fitting, using a remote line and bracket if necessary. Check thread size and adapter requirements against the port you intend to use before ordering.
