A cap or canopy turns an open bed into secure, dry storage, which is the largest single change you can make to how a pickup is used. The trade is access from above and overall height — a capped truck no longer fits some parking structures, and loading is through the tailgate rather than over the rails.

Fit is by bed length and generation, and the seal is what separates a good installation from a leaking one. Check the clamp count and whether the cap suits a bed with a spray-in liner, since a thick liner lip changes how the cap sits on the rails.
