An unsecured load is a hazard before it is an inconvenience. Anything loose in a bed becomes a projectile in a hard stop, and in most provinces an insecure load is an offence in its own right. Cargo bars and dividers keep a load against the bulkhead; nets contain the light things that would otherwise blow out on the highway.

Rate the anchor, not the strap. The weakest point in a tie-down is almost always the mounting point, so a bolt-through anchor into the bed floor carries far more than a hook clipped to a stake pocket. Check the working load limit rather than the breaking strength — they are different numbers and only one is meant for use.
