Ram 2500 Fender Flares: How to Choose the Right Kit

This guide is for Ram 2500 owners choosing a set of fender flares. The choice comes down to three things: the model year of your truck, how much extra tire coverage you want, and whether you like the bolt-on look of a pocket style flare or the lower profile of an OE style flare.

What to check first on your Ram 2500

  • Model year. Kits are listed for specific years. The titles below cover 2019-and-newer trucks, 2010-2018 trucks and the 2003-2009 Dodge Ram 2500; match your year to the title first.
  • Dodge or Ram badge. Older trucks were sold as the Dodge Ram 2500, and some titles say "Dodge" rather than "Ram". Where a title only says "select Dodge trucks" or "select Ram trucks", the fitment table on the product page lists the exact years.
  • Single or dual rear wheels. One of the 2019-and-newer kits is titled "Excl Dually", so confirm your rear wheel setup before you order.
  • Factory flares. Some listings carry a fitment note limiting them to trucks without factory (OEM) fender flares. If your truck came with flares from the factory, read the notes in the fitment table.

Fender flare styles

A fender flare is an extension fitted to the edge of the wheel opening that widens the fender's coverage over the tire, helping keep mud, water and stones thrown by the tire off the body. On gravel, slush and salted winter roads, that means less spray thrown from the tread. Three styles appear here:

  • Pocket style: Husky Liners calls these rugged-looking protection over oversized tires and low-offset wheels, with stainless-steel simulated rivets that give a bolt-on appearance.
  • OE style: Husky Liners describes its OE Style flares as a low-profile touch that sets the truck apart.
  • DRT: Husky Liners says its DRT flare gives up to 3" of tire coverage with a fit specific to the vehicle.
