Ford F-150 Shocks: Generation, Front or Rear and Lift Height
Share
This guide is for Ford F-150 owners in Canada replacing worn shocks or matching shocks to a lift. Four things decide the choice: which F-150 generation you have, front or rear position, 2WD or 4WD, and how much lift the truck has now.
A shock absorber controls how quickly the spring compresses and rebounds. Shocks are matched to a ride height range, so confirm the lift height on your truck before ordering. A rear shock for a stock F-150 and one for a 6-inch lift are different parts.
What to check first on your F-150
- Generation. Our shock pages split the F-150 by years: Shocks & Struts for 2021-2026 Ford F-150, Shocks & Struts for 2015-2020 Ford F-150, Shocks & Struts for 2009-2014 Ford F-150 and Shocks & Struts for 2004-2008 Ford F-150. Some shocks are titled for one generation; others, like the Rough Country rears below, span several.
- Front or rear. Every shock in this guide is titled Front or Rear. The Rough Country shocks here are rears; the ReadyLift and Bilstein shocks are fronts.
- Drive. The Bilstein fronts are titled 4WD. The Rough Country rears are titled 2WD/4WD. The ReadyLift title names no drive, so check its product page.
- Lift height. Rough Country and ReadyLift titles carry a lift figure in inches. Bilstein describes the B6 4600 as a shock for stock height trucks.
Each product page lists the years, makes and models it fits, and the vehicle selector filters to your truck.
Rough Country rear shocks, 09-26

ReadyLift Falcon front, 4-inch lift
The ReadyLift Falcon Front Shocks (PAIR) 4" Lift SST 2.1 for the 15-25 F150 are a front set for a 4-inch lift; ReadyLift lists it as a 2-piece set. The title covers the 2015-2020 and 2021-2026 pages up to 2025, so 2026 owners should check the product page. More: ReadyLift.
Bilstein B6 4600 fronts for stock height
Bilstein calls the B6 4600 a direct-fit upgrade to the OE shock for stock height light trucks and SUVs, with a 46mm monotube and a velocity-sensitive, digressive piston that reacts to changing road conditions, tuned for each application.
- Bilstein B6 4600 Front Shock Absorber (24-352918): titled for the 2021-2026 Ford F-150, 4WD.
- Bilstein B6 4600 Front Shock Absorber (24-337120): titled for the 2015-2020 Ford F-150, 4WD.

Before you order
Know your years, position, drive and current lift, then use the vehicle page above or browse all Shocks, Struts & Suspension. If the shocks are part of a lift, our Ford F-150 lift kit guide covers the kits themselves. Road salt and slush are part of a Canadian winter, so spring tire changeover is a good time to look over the shocks and their mounts. Prices are in Canadian dollars and orders ship across Canada.
