F-150 Mud Flaps: With or Without Flares, Raptor and Front vs Rear

This guide is for Ford F-150 owners choosing mud flaps. On an F-150 the first question is not the year but the fenders: does your truck have flares, and is it a Raptor? Get that right and the rest is picking a finish and pairing front with rear.

What to check first on your F-150

  • Flares or no flares. Air Hawk titles its 15-25 F150 sets "with Flares" or "Without Flares". Look at your wheel openings before you order.
  • Raptor or not. Two sets in this guide are titled for the Raptor only: one for the 2021-2024 F-150 Raptor SuperCrew and one for the 17-20 F-150 Raptor Gen 2. The rest do not name the Raptor.
  • Model year. The Air Hawk sets are titled 15-25 F150; the Cloud-Rider sets split 15-20 and 21-25.
  • Front, rear or both. Most sets cover one axle, and the title says Front or Rear. Order one of each for all four wheels.

What mud flaps do, and the choices

A mud flap hangs behind a wheel to catch water, mud, stones and road spray thrown off the tire, keeping it off the truck's body and away from vehicles behind. In a Canadian winter that spray carries road salt, which Rally Armor names among the things its flaps guard against. The options here are Air Hawk's Carbon Black sets (one with stainless bottom plates), Cloud-Rider flaps with a stainless plate and Ford logo, Husky Liners' molded thermoplastic guards and Rally Armor's urethane UR flaps.

These are different years and different axles, so they are not a pair. Match each with a set for the other axle listed for your year.

FAQ

How do I know whether to buy the with-flares or without-flares set?

Look at your wheel openings. Fender flares are trim pieces that extend the arch outward. Air Hawk sells separate 15-25 F150 sets for trucks with flares and without flares, and the right one is the set whose title matches your truck.

Will regular F-150 mud flaps fit my Raptor?

Buy a set whose title names the Raptor. In this guide that is the Husky Liners set for the 2021-2024 F-150 Raptor SuperCrew and the Rally Armor UR flap for the 17-20 F-150 Raptor Gen 2. The other titles do not name the Raptor.

Do the Cloud-Rider sets cover both axles?

No. The Cloud-Rider set titled for the 21-25 F150 is a front set, and the one titled for the 15-20 F150 is a rear set. Pair each with a set for the other axle listed for your year.

Do I need to drill to install these flaps?

Rally Armor lists no drilling for its UR flap, and the Husky Liners 58536 set lists Requires Drilling: No and includes an installation kit. For the Air Hawk and Cloud-Rider sets, check the product page.
