Ford F-150 Auxiliary Lights Guide: Fog, Ditch & Tailgate Lights
Share
This guide is for Ford F-150 owners in Canada who want more light on the truck: fog pocket lights, lights on the windshield pillar, a tailgate light bar or LED running lights at the front. The choice comes down to three things: which F-150 generation you drive, where on the truck the light goes, and any trim or factory-equipment condition in the product title.
What to check first on your F-150
- Generation. Our auxiliary light pages split the F-150 four ways: Auxiliary Lights for 2021-2026 Ford F-150, Auxiliary Lights for 2015-2020 Ford F-150, Auxiliary Lights for 2009-2014 Ford F-150 and Auxiliary Lights for 2004-2008 Ford F-150. Start from the page for your truck; none of the products named below is titled for a 2004-2014 truck.
- Trim. Some kits are titled for the Raptor only. If a title names Raptor, do not assume it suits a regular F-150.
- Factory equipment. Some titles carry a condition, such as Putco's "with Factory LED". Match it to your truck before you order.
- Road use. Recon's listing says auxiliary lighting is for off-road use. Check your province's rules for auxiliary lighting on public roads, especially for anything that faces forward.
Where the light goes
- Fog pockets. A fog pocket kit replaces the factory lights in the bumper fog openings. Baja Designs describes its kit as a replacement for the factory offering.
- Pillar or ditch mounts. Brackets at the base of the windshield pillar hold a pair of auxiliary lights. KC HiLiTES sells the brackets on their own.
- Tailgate. A tailgate light bar mounts across the tailgate, as Putco's kit does.
- Front running lights. Some trim pieces carry LEDs, such as Recon's tow hook covers.
The category page also lists reverse, hitch and cornering light kits.
Lights and mounts for the F-150
Recon tow hook covers with LED running lights
The Recon White Tow Hook Covers with LED Running Lights are titled for the 15-25 F150. Recon lists the part as a white LED light with a white finish. That span crosses our 2015-2020 and 2021-2026 pages, so confirm your year with the vehicle selector. More from the brand: Recon Pod & Auxiliary Lights.
Putco Freedom Blade tailgate light bar
The Putco 60" Direct Fit Freedom Blade Kit is titled for the 24-26 F150 with Factory LED. Putco describes it as a 60 in. direct-fit LED light bar that mounts across the tailgate. The "with Factory LED" condition is part of the title, so check the product page to confirm it matches your truck. More from the brand: Putco Pod & Auxiliary Lights.
Baja Designs fog pocket kit for the Raptor
The Baja Designs S2 SAE Amber/S2 Pro Fog Pocket Kits are titled for the 2021+ F150 Raptor. Baja says the kit replaces the factory fog pocket lights and pairs S2 SAE lights, designed to meet J583 fog lamp requirements, with S2 Pro lights for distance lighting off-road. Baja rates the S2 Pro at 2,245 raw lumens at 23.4 W, and lists four light pods, mounts and a wiring harness in the kit, in Baja Amber. Baja's own text also mentions the Raptor 37 Package and Raptor R, so confirm your Raptor on the product page. More from the brand: Baja Designs Pod & Auxiliary Lights.
KC HiLiTES pillar ditch mount brackets
The KC HiLiTES Pillar Ditch Mount Bracket Set is titled for the 2021-2024 Ford F-150. KC says the brackets are 3/16 steel with a textured black powder coat and bolt on without modifying the truck. They work with lights from KC's FLEX ERA and Gravity families, among others. The listed box contents are the brackets for both sides and their screws and washers, so the lights are a separate choice. More from the brand: KC HiLiTES Pod & Auxiliary Lights.
Narrowing it down
Decide where the light goes first, then open the vehicle page for your generation. Read each title for years, trim and factory-equipment conditions, then confirm on the product page, which lists the years, makes and models it fits. The full Pod & Auxiliary Lights category works with the vehicle selector. If you are weighing a full light bar instead of pods, see how to choose an LED light bar.
FAQ
Are auxiliary lights legal on the road in Canada?
It depends on the light and on your province. Recon's listing says auxiliary lighting is for off-road use and to check provincial rules before fitting forward-facing auxiliary lights for road use. Check your province's rules for auxiliary lighting on public roads before you wire anything up.
Will a Raptor fog light kit fit a regular F-150?
Do not assume it will. The Baja Designs fog pocket kit in this guide is titled for the 2021+ F150 Raptor, not the regular F-150. Check the fitment table on the product page and use the vehicle selector.
Do the KC HiLiTES ditch brackets come with lights?
The box contents KC lists are the bracket set for the driver and passenger sides, two M6 screws and two M6 flat washers. Lights are chosen separately; KC names its FLEX ERA and Gravity families as options.
Which lights in this guide fit a 2015-2020 F-150?
Of the products named here, the Recon tow hook covers are titled for the 15-25 F150. The 2015-2020 auxiliary lights page lists everything recorded for that generation.
