2009-2014 Ford F-150 Tonneau Cover Guide

This guide is for owners of a 2009-2014 Ford F-150 choosing a tonneau cover. Three things decide it: which bed your truck has, whether it is a Raptor, and how you want the cover to open. If your F-150 is a 2015 or newer, the 2015-2020 Ford F-150 tonneau cover guide is the one to read.

What to check first on a 2009-2014 F-150

  • Bed length. Each cover fits one bed, and titles label the beds differently: the shorter bed appears below as 5'6", 5.5 ft, 5ft 6in and 5.7 ft, the longer as 6'6". Match with the vehicle selector, not the number alone.
  • Raptor. Some titles name the Raptor; the fitment table shows whether a cover lists the Raptor only or other F-150s too.
  • Years. Several titles give a wider span, such as 2004-2014 or 04-20, which takes in 2009-2014.
  • Bed style and rails. Some titles for this generation exclude the Flareside bed or a rail system; if your truck has either, read the title and product page notes.

Soft roll-up, hard folding or hard roll-up

A tonneau cover closes over the open cargo box to hide and shelter what is carried inside. The covers here open in three ways:

  • Soft roll-up covers use a tensioned vinyl sheet on a rail system and roll forward to open the bed.
  • Hard folding covers use rigid panels that fold forward in sections and can usually be driven with the panels stacked.
  • A hard roll-up cover rolls up like a soft one but uses interlocking aluminum slats under a vinyl surface (see the last product section).

With slush and road salt in the bed for months, note below where a maker mentions seals, drain tubes or cold testing.

Keeping a BackRack

The BackRack Low Profile Tonneau Hardware Kit, 2004-2014 F-150 is not a cover and not a rack. It is the inside-rail adapter that lets a BackRack frame and a low-profile tonneau cover fit the same truck, and BackRack says it needs no drilling into the bed. The cover and the rack are sold separately.

A hard roll-up option

The BAK Industries Revolver X4s, 2004-2014 F150 5.7 ft bed (80309) rolls interlocking aluminum slats under a one-piece TriShield 70-grade vinyl surface. BAK rates it for up to 400 lbs of evenly distributed weight, and it has flush-fitting side seals and an integrated bulkhead seal.

FAQ

Which bed does my 2009-2014 F-150 cover need?

The covers in this guide are titled for the shorter bed (5'6", 5.5 ft, 5ft 6in or 5.7 ft) or the longer bed (6'6"). Use the vehicle selector and the fitment table on the product page to match your truck before ordering.

Will a cover with Raptor in the title fit a regular F-150?

Only if the title and the fitment table list your truck. Some titles name the Raptor alone; the TruXport 297601 title names both the Raptor and the 2009-2014 F-150. Check the product page for your year and bed.

Can I run a tonneau cover with a BackRack on this truck?

Yes, with the BackRack low profile tonneau hardware kit titled for the 2004-2014 F-150. It is the adapter only; the cover and the rack are sold separately.
