Heat is a towing and a modification problem before it is a summer problem. A transmission cooler is the single highest-value addition to a truck that pulls a trailer, because automatic transmission fluid degrades sharply above roughly 220°F and the damage is cumulative rather than sudden. Engine oil coolers do the equivalent job for a hard-worked engine.

An electric fan conversion frees the parasitic drag of a belt-driven clutch fan and gives you control over when the fan runs, but it is only as good as its shroud — a fan without one pulls air through the easiest path rather than through the core.

Cooling failures are usually a system, not a part. Coolant side: radiators, water pumps, thermostats and housings and fans and shrouds — a fan without the right shroud moves far less air than its rating suggests. Charge and oil side: intercoolers and charge air for a boosted engine, oil and transmission coolers for towing heat that the radiator never sees.
