Lexus GX470 and GX460 Lift Kits: How to Choose

This guide is for Canadian Lexus GX owners choosing a suspension lift, whether you drive a GX 470 or a GX 460. The two are different vehicles for lift kit purposes: every kit here is titled for one or the other, never both. Start by confirming which you own, then choose between a spring-and-shock system and an adjustable coilover system.

What to check first on your GX

• KDSS on the GX 460. Ironman 4x4 sells separate GX460 kits titled Non-KDSS and with KDSS, so know whether your vehicle has KDSS before you choose.
• Factory rear air bags. Eibach's Stage 2 kits include a rear air bag delete, and ICON's GX470 systems include a rear coil spring conversion kit that ICON says eliminates the factory rear air bags. If your GX has rear air bags, read what the kit replaces on the product page.
• Lift height and adjustability. A suspension lift raises ride height to clear larger tires. Several kits here use height-adjustable coilovers, so the title gives a range rather than one number.

Lift kits for the GX 470 (2003-2009)

ICON 2003-09 Lexus GX470, 0-3.5" Lift, Stage 2 Suspension System, Tubular UCA: ICON's coilovers adjust from 0 to 3.5 inches of lift over stock, and the system adds tubular upper control arms with ICON's Delta Joint, which ICON describes as a greaseable high-angle ball joint. ICON says the system extends wheel travel and corrects geometry for more precise alignment, and includes a rear coil spring conversion kit for the GX470.

Eibach 2.2" Lift Kit, 2003-2009 Lexus GX470: Eibach's Pro-Truck-Lift Stage 2 system with a 2.2-inch lift. It pairs rear lift springs, sport shocks and an air bag delete with front Pro-Truck-Coilover 2.0 units that have an adjustable threaded spring perch, 46mm piston and nitrogen-charged monotube design with variable force valving.

Eibach Stage 1 Lift Kit, 2003-2009 Lexus GX470 (E80590050122): Eibach's Pro-Truck-Lift Stage 1 system, engineered to raise ride height without compromising the factory bushings and ball joints. The listing does not state a lift height, so check the product page.

Lift kits for the GX 460

ICON 2010-2022 Lexus GX460, 0-3.5" Lift, Stage 1 Suspension System: vehicle-specific 2.5-inch coilover shocks with internal reservoirs and ICON coil springs, adjustable from 0 to 3.5 inches of lift. ICON includes an adjustable rear track bar, which it says helps correct rear-end alignment and is there for KDSS compatibility. Note the title stops at 2022.

Eibach 1.75" Lift Kit, 2010-2023 Lexus GX460: the Pro-Truck-Lift Stage 1 system with a 1.75-inch lift, raising ride height while leaving the factory bushings and ball joints intact.

The package lists 2 pre-built coilovers, and Ironman says the Foam Cell Pro shocks are custom-valved per vehicle with adjustable ride height and payload options.
