A slide or drawer system turns a truck bed into something you can reach without climbing in, which is the whole argument for it on a work truck or a touring build. Drawer systems carry tools and recovery gear at a fixed, lockable location; a full-width slide brings the entire load out to the tailgate.

Weigh the trade before buying. Every system costs you bed depth and adds permanent weight — often a hundred pounds or more before anything goes in it — and that comes off your payload. Check the extension rating loaded rather than empty, and confirm the system suits your bed length and whether you run a cover over it.
