Interior and bed lighting: courtesy, dome, bed and rock lights

People searching for this call it courtesy lights, interior lights or truck bed lights. Our catalogue calls none of it that, which is the reason for this page: four quite different products sit behind those words, and they cost between $19 and $486.

Start with the cheapest question: is it a bulb?

If a dome or map light has simply stopped, the answer is often a bulb, and our bulbs run a median of $21. Swapping a factory incandescent for an LED bulb also makes the cabin noticeably brighter without touching a wire. It is the cheapest change on this page by an order of magnitude, and it is worth ruling out first.

Courtesy and dome lighting

This is the group most people mean. Median $83. These replace or supplement the lights already in the cab — dome, map, footwell, door puddle. Most are direct-fit for a named vehicle, so the vehicle selector matters.

Rock lights are not interior lights

They are the most expensive group here — median $292 — and they mount under the vehicle to light the ground and the wheels on a trail at night. They are sold in sets, they need wiring and usually a switch, and they are an off-road part rather than a cabin one. If your search was about reading a map in the dark, this is not the group you want.

Bed lighting

Bed lights are strips or pods that mount under the bed rail so you can see what you are loading. They come up under the same searches as cabin lighting but solve a different problem, and they generally need a power source and a switch.
